Stupid yes, but not THAT stupid

Well, I guess the media and the LibLoggers desperate for a way to go on the offensive have found a gaffe in the line of campaign control and are pouring troops into it to exploit it.

But really, c'mon. Are you really comparing it to the stupid, tasteless, infamous ad of the 1993 campaign? I know you are desperate but geez.

In Winnipeg, Prime Minister Stephen Harper was forced to apologize for what he called the "inappropriate" internet posting.

"It has been removed. It was tasteless and inappropriate. We have enough differences with the Liberals without getting into that kind of thing," said Harper.

A strong, quick apology, unlike past Liberal Leader Paul Martin.

Paul Martin defended the series of controversial ads his Liberal Party unleashed this week and continued his attack on Stephen Harper, painting him as a leader who subscribes to a far right-wing ideology.

In an interview Thursday morning on CTV's Canada AM, Martin said he approved every one of the harshly critical ads -- including one that suggested the Tory Leader would use the military to occupy Canadian cities.

The ad did not air and was pulled from the party's website within hours of being posted. But Martin said the ad was lifted simply because he didn't think it was very good.

Quite a difference in leadership if you ask me.

We're better off with Harper.

This is no different than a cartoon you would see in any newspaper. So a bird crapped on his shoulder. So what???

Dion calling Harper a liar more than once is far far worse. Harper, however, can take things like a man.

Indeed, Harper can "take one on the chin".

So, how much has traffic increased to the Conservative website, since the poopy ad?

The ad seems to have overshadowed the 2% decrease in excise tax on diesel AND Dion's $1200 X 2 announcement.

Do yah think the Libs would have been better off if they had treated their website no-no about PMSH and Cadman, the same way PMSH treated this no-no???

Compare.
We're better off with Harper.

Little do they know that it's all part of the CPC communication strategy. Got publicity twice (once the Flash puffin pooping), once the "retraction (the latter receiving much more national media coverage). Now the Libloggers are carrying the carefully crafted message forward as a "gaffe"?

The message is: Dion and his woebegone misfits are to be pitied or laughed at, take your choice. And Dion et al respond with "that's so unfair" again? Wonderful, mission accomplished, with further dividends from the libloggers.

All laid out in national media ... the original Iggy definition of the LPC in terms of puffins excrement, the CPC parody of it, the "retraction", the "it's all unfair" riposte of Dion, the reinforcement is that "this guy is a wimp" and unfit as a leader.

Well executed communication strategy. Cost = programming one puffin excrement dropping, then taking it out again.

Be sure to egg on the libloggers, eh? let them do our work!! Right on!
