800 Million for Immigrants?

Stephane Dion has pledged another 800 million of our dollars to help immigrants, and to reverse changes the Conservative government have introduced to reduce the massive backlog and be more nimble in addressing Canada's changing labour needs.

Liberals would spend $400-million to help clear the 900,000-person backlog mired in the immigrant application process, he said.

Mr. Dion also pledged $200-million for language training for newcomers and $200-million on courses to help prepare immigrants for the workplace and get foreign credentials recognized.

What Stephane Dion hasn't said is where this 800 million will come from. Dion and his minions have been saying that Stephen Harper has brought this country to the brink of deficit. That the "cupboard is bare" etc etc.

Yet over the past few days, Stephane Dion has announced hundreds of millions of dollars in new spending without saying where the money will come from.

Where will the money come from Mr Dion? Where?

This spending announcement does seem silly on the face of it anyway, the Liberals supported the government's introduction of C-50 by abstaining from the vote. If they felt it was against Canadian values surely they would have voted down the bill right? The only principle the Liberal's actually believe in is their right to preside over this great country.

Oh wait, C-50 was a confidence matter, tied in with the budget. Since the Liberal's had no confidence in their ability to win the resulting election they let it pass.

Also, bill C-50 contained needed changes, we should be able to prioritize immigrants into our great country based on our skill shortages. It only seems to make sense. The opposition's only card in this debate is to once again talk up the "hidden agenda". Hogwash.

We're better off with Harper.

There always seems to be money in the kitty to help those who haven't contributed any money to the system.

I can understand Taliban Jack pledging to clean up the immigrant backlog; he won't form the government and can propose all the pie-in-the-sky solutions he wants. But, the Nutty Professor is a different story. The previous Liberal government had 13 years to do something about this mess and their sole solution was to issue quickie visas to strippers. Mr. Harper's government is the first to even attempt to find a solution to this disaster and all of a sudden the Liberals have found religion and have all the answers.

Forget that the Liberals have had 13 years, we all know that the Liberals are elitist and would prefer to have only PhDs in the country. Screw the avergage Joe.

it's called vote buying ... those with family trying to get in will vote for he who opens the flood gates
