Listen Stephane, can I call you Stephane? Everyone says you are swell guy, honest, and true and all that. Admirable qualities all, too bad you have all that bad policy dragging you down. Listen, Stephane, what I really want to say is that you cannot pull off the tough guy, sorry, you just can't.
Oh, and calling someone a liar is just plain childish.
"Stop to lie to Canadians, to not try to win an election by lying and to be honest for once." says Stephane Dion.
The Conservative war room in Ottawa has also repeatedly claimed that Dion would raise the GST and kill a $1,200 child tax benefit - both of which Dion says are patently untrue.
"They are piling their lies upon lies," he said. "They are unable to stop to lie. Canadians will not accept that."
Ok Stephane I get it, you changed your mind on this, that's cool. Everyone is allowed to have their opinions grow and morph as time marches on. I fully expect you to know stop drudging up old quotes from the nineties or early 2000. I mean, if you can change your mind surely Stephane Harper can too? What is good for the goose is surely good for the gander!
We're better off with Harper.

The leader who likes to take his ball and go home is Mr. Harper who is so afraid of debating Ms. May that he threaten to be the only PM to not show up for a debate.
real conservative, don't forget about the rest of the parties.
In recent days, the Conservatives, Bloc Québécois and the NDP have all expressed their opposition to May joining the debates.
So, no more dredging up 12 year old articles about 'firewalls'? joining the Iraq war, culture of defeat?
How many times will Dion and Duceppe accuse Harper of having a hidden agenda on abortion, when Harper has said the opposite?
Gawd I love that rule:
'what goes around comes around'.
Dion is getting Liberal tactics thrown at him.
And on day 2 to boot!!
btw rc, produce the link where Harper 'said', not some Liberal lovin' journalist, that he would not attend the debates.
You think it's easy to remember saying something I said when I can't hear??
I agree - RC - let's see the link where it says it was Harper who would not debate.
Come on - time to put your money where your mouth is or your sheckles where your fingers are in this case.
"The Conservative war room in Ottawa has also repeatedly claimed that Dion would raise the GST and kill a $1,200 child tax benefit - both of which Dion says are patently untrue."
Those claims actually are untrue. Musing does not mean making a statement of policy. What an important distinction to miss.
I also have to point out to you that Stephane's "carbon spewing clunker of a jet" is having all of its carbon emissions offset. I think he is too intelligent to commit a blatant hypocritical error like that. That would be almost as bad as making a law and then breaking it soon after for obvious political gain...
We are better off with Harper? He wants to run my country with a crummy slogan like that?
RC could not be more correct. However, I was not at all surprised when I heard about that. There is absolutely no merit to Harper's environmental policies and he knows that the Liberals and Greens will embarrass him badly on that front.
This whole thing sounds a little familiar to that time when Harper wouldn't accept a debate challenge from Dion over the GreenShift...
''Musing does not mean making a statement of policy''
Dion was asked if he would recind the $100 child benefit, he said YES. That's not musing.

''I also have to point out to you that Stephane's "carbon spewing clunker of a jet" is having all of its carbon emissions offset.''
Big whooping deal, Dion is buying offset credits.
He dumped tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere.
I say, Dion should have to go the month of January without firing up his furnace, as an offset, not BUY credits.
And btw, Brad Lavigne said Jack refused to go the debates if Lizzy was included.
Jack is not the prime minister. If you think it is appropriate for the prime minister to make that kind of a threat then go ahead and think that way. You are just the kind of mindless person that Harper is targeting.
"Big whooping deal, Dion is buying offset credits.
He dumped tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere."
Do you even understand the concept of carbon offsets?
Yes Gayle, I understand carbon offsets.
It is elitist to BUY offsets, instead of actually reducing your carbon footprint.
But then Dion eats a hotdog with a fork and knife,
and he didn't know what carpooling was,
that says it all.
Dion just isn't like the rest of us.
Did he go to public school, or was he fed by silver spoon from birth?
Provide a link where PMSH said, or any Con official was quoted, saying PMSH would not attend if May was included.
You actually still don't appear to understand carbon offsets. Stephane Dion requires a plane in order to actually do some campaigning and compete with the other parties in that respect. So his party purchased carbon offsets from some Canadian firm (I forget the details). The carbon he emits is equal to the carbon not being emitted as a result of this carbon offset program. Therefore, his flights are carbon neutral. Oh, and Harper has not even attempted to follow suit.
Go and watch The National from this evening and you can see him defend his position. He thinks that May is going to endorse Dion. Wow, how obtuse.
hey mattdyd or gayle or whoever you are...here's a question about carbon credits for u...
How does being able to pay your way out of polluting actually reduce GHGs? Your emitting, it's in the air. Because you have money you are able to continue your polluting ways and the rest of the pions (who can not affod a pay as you pollute card) get to work doubly hard in order to negate the GHGs the polluted put out there in the first place.
Would it not be better to invest in cleaner energy and NOT pollute in the first place?
Just asking.
Mattyd at 12:44 what is the Liberal slogan? "Give us your tax dollars and WE'LL decide what is best for you?".
That clunker jet is still spewing all that carbon into the air, all that air pollution. Carbon credits for some future project that may never start while 25% or more of that money is siphoned off for "administrative overhead" is OK?
That is why you support Kyoto, make the rich pay while the poor still pollute.
Mattyd, the only reason you want the Greens in the debate is to prop up your sad sack of a leader.
Mattyd do you think it is appropriate for a potential future Prime Minister to to call someone a liar? Even when we have tapes of Dion musing (what a beginner mistake, what else will he make a mistake on?) and proof that Dion actually said he would rescind the UCCB?
Of course you do, but you don't condone a Prime Minister saying that Dion's Tax Grab will "screw" Canadians.
Typical. Double. Standard.
You actually still don't appear to understand carbon offsets. Stephane Dion requires a plane in order to actually do some campaigning and compete with the other parties in that respect.
Maybe he should have prepared ahead of time? And had a nice new plane from Air Canada? Or was he renting with Zoom?
So his party purchased carbon offsets from some Canadian firm (I forget the details). The carbon he emits is equal to the carbon not being emitted as a result of this carbon offset program. Therefore, his flights are carbon neutral.
Prove it! That one wind farm sure is shilling for a lot of carbon credits.
Oh, and Harper has not even attempted to follow suit.
Because he realizes it for the sham it is.
mattyd, a liblogger is claiming it was the Bloc and NDP who threatened not to attend.
Scurry back to your hole now.
"So his party purchased carbon offsets from some Canadian firm (I forget the details). "
Conveniently you forget the details - thats because they are purchasing so called carbon credits (guilt money) from a liberal party wind farm that uses the money to build windmills AFTER EXPENSES AND PROFITS - so far they have one windmill.
I am thinking of starting a carbon credit company myself - seems like a license to print money.
Nice try Matty.
Oh an we await that link that says Harper was the one who didn't want to debate. As Gayle is often heard to say - Saying it doesn't make it true.
Try to keep up Matty.
Alberta girl,
Here is the carbon offset details I was referring to:
"Mr. Dion acknowledges the plane is not environmentally friendly, but said the Liberals will purchase offset credits through CarbonZero, a Toronto firm involved in measuring carbon emissions. CarbonZero will put the credits toward a project in Quebec that replaces inefficient gas boilers with new units using heating controls and new energy-efficient piping systems.
"Can I call on Mr. Harper to offset his emissions as well?" Mr. Dion asked." - Globe and Mail
As for your comment about the debate, I already answered that. It was covered on The National last night.
