I am not a huge fan of negative/contrast/attack ads. I am just not. Especially when over done and over played. Yes I am aware why parties make them, they work.
The Conservative Party of Canada has released three new negative ads attacking Stephane Dion. I haven't seen them on television yet so I don't know how much airtime they are getting. I am hoping not much. Of course, the Conservative's can always rely on the networks like Newsworld and Newsnet to play them free of charge.
I liked the positive ads the Conservatives have been playing for the past few days. They show a more human side. A father, a patriot, a proud Canadian. That is the image I want the Conservative Party to portray.
Here are the three newest ads, while the whole casino idea is novel they are clearly negative ads.
The last one is the best of the three in my humble opinion, it is slicker and less gimmicky then the other two. The placement of the video in the dice was interesting from a technical point of view, and gave the ad a bit of polish. The first two seemed cheap.
We're better off with (a positive) Harper.

I like the dice ad best too.
Well, I cringe at attack ads too, but Dion isn't exactly being Mr Positive, Man of Hope, right now.
For every 'rightwing, hidden agenda, Bush',
Cons should release an ad.
One of Dion's faults is he is easily agitated. As you no doubt saw today with his liar liar liar.
He fell right into the trap.
And yet when they put out positive ads, the media lambaste him for trying to be something he is not - although I disagree with them. Just because he isn't like that with them (who would be) doesn't mean he isn't like that with his family or his friends.
It was sickening to listen to Margaret Wente and Lawrence Martin poke fun as our Prime Minister accusing him of trying to put one over on the voters.
The third ad was slicker than the first two but the first two ads hit harder and frankly they would resonate with more people. I like the first one best actually. Covers a lot more ground efficiently. (real conservative)
Norman Spector said PMSH is the same man as appears in the ads.
I really liked the sweater guy ads.
(notice Dion wearing a sweater today...copycat)
If Dion spends the next week staying on defense instead of getting on message, he won't recover.
I suppose, that's the plan.
PMSH has kept his composure extremely well. Dion can't rattle him.
