Blair Wilson -- Suitable to be The First Green MP?

After reading more about this, I wonder why in heck Elizabeth May decide to take on Blair Wilson as her first sitting MP?
  1. Wilson and his wife borrowed an estimated $1.6 from his in-laws, Bill and Norma Lougheed, to purchase properties, most of which they alleged had not been repaid.
  2. Wilson and his wife owed an additional $2.1 million in mortgages on homes and had liens on three.
  3. Wilson was sued twice in the 1990s by companies he had worked for, for allegedly misappropriating company funds. The cases were settled out of court and the allegations remain unresolved.
  4. Wilson's two restaurants had failed and he was taken to the B.C. human-rights tribunal by several employees.
  5. And was twice compelled by the courts to pay GST.
  6. The [Liberal] party's "green light" nomination committee investigation found on three separate occasions Wilson failed to disclose such information.
  7. which he [Blair Wilson] was found to have committed three breaches of the Elections Act: failing to install an official agent before taking contributions or making expenditures, as well as not declaring corporate gifts worth $700 or printing costs of $9,000.
Yikes!

Ok, so let's be charitable and check up the Canada Election Act violations to innocent mistakes. His failed restaurants are a non-issue, I mean, restaurants fail all the time, they are after all one of the riskiest businesses to launch.

That still leaves 6 other major "red flags" on his candidacy. Blair Wilson fails as a suitable MP on many accounts:
  1. Getting along with others, like his own family.
  2. Having multiple liens on his property. What does this mean?
  3. Sued twice for allegedly misappropriating funds for the companies he worked with, one could be an innocent misunderstanding, but two seems to stretch the imagination a bit. No one will ever know the truth on this issue because they were settled out of court.
  4. Two human rights complaints from his employees.
  5. Being compelled by the courts to pay the GST. Twice.
  6. A lack of honesty and transparency in the disclosure of all these things to the Liberal nomination committee.
A bright day for the Green Party indeed. I am not sure how the Elizabeth May can reconcile these with her determination to get on the debates.

Of course, I don't know why she would want to get on the debates anyway. I think she would be more of a liability then an asset to her party's future.

Personally I have no issue with the fact she is an ordained minister in the Anglican Church, but I wonder why she get's a free pass from so many people. Conservatives always get slammed for their religious views. Is there a double standard?

I have always kept my eye on the Green Party over the years, they were basically centre-right with a strong emphasis on the environment, I had a lot more respect when Jim Harris was the leader. With Elizabeth May at the helm, her shrill comments about Harper being Bush's lapdog, Nazi references, the rest of the drivel that comes out of her mouth, and now this. I have to wonder what happened to the plucky upstart Greens.

Wilson is hoping to be a swing vote so that Harper can offer him a cadmanesque million bucks.

What on earth makes this guy good enough to be a Green? Seriously, we're supposed to be the party with ethics and morals, this disgusts me. I'm not voting Green this time, and it breaks my heart, but Liz May needs to be told she went to far on this one. We look desperate, and Wilson isn't fit to be MP. If Dion won't even take him, that should tell you something.

Ellie May is just another communist pretending to be a Liberal.

Canada is infested with communists who pretend to be something else.
