Dion thinks we are stupid

The video speaks for itself. This has nothing to do with his command of the English Language, and nothing to do with a supposed hearing problem.

Listen to it yourself.

He was asked a clear question, and he didn't give a clear answer. Dion talked about is 30/50 plan, which has nothing to do with his supposed economic plan.

Dion clearly showed that he had nothing new to add, that despite his bluster, he has no idea what he would do if he was in Harper's place.

He had no idea, this is because Harper has done all that can be reasonably and prudently done.

Dion and the Liberals were too busy taking the high road looking for the next smear or pseudo-scandal to be concerned with something as trivial as the economy.

As you said:

"Dion clearly showed that he had nothing new to add, that despite his bluster, he has no idea what he would do if he was in Harper's place."

The media and even Gilles Dusceppe's spin reported Friday about Dion not understanding English (as a so-called legitimate excuse??) was complete BS - his handlers re-explained the question to him in French over the course of the flubbed interview, and he was still either confused and feigned so as not to answer.

Dion is clueless on how to react to an economic problem, and he proved that by saying he would give the problem to to his "30 day" committee.

Would he also form a "30-day committee" if Canada is attacked by terrorists?

The man proved himself to be incompetent to lead this country.

What more proof does anyone need?

I am amazed how such people presume to have the qualifications, judgment and leadership to be PM of Canada.

Canada, vote Conservative!

I was on the verge of voting for the parti Conservative
for the first time, but the deal is sealed now. I am now
convinced that beneath the reasonable-sounding rhetoric that the Tories have used to attract Quebec voters, there lies a deeper anti-francophone sentiment that was exemplified by the disrespectful, shameful treatment that M. Dion received and which the broadcaster felt compelled to share.
It was unnecessary to air the awkward segment of the
interview,
but this kind of schoolyard tactic of exploiting M. Dion’s English difficultes, does not reflect the comportement of a governing party.

Mr Dion had no problems hearing and understanding English during the "Live" and ENGLISH debate. He could be seen nodding his head at others, interrupting them when he did not agree. All that was done with 2 or 3 other people talking at the same time. He had no problem then. Yet, one on one with an interviewer in a sound proof room, he has difficulty hearing the question? One minute they are saying he didn't understand it. Yet it was explained 3 times and by his FRENCH aide there as well! Still he did not understand it. Then they are saying it was his lack of good English skills. Again it was explained to him in FRENCH by his aide. Having the ability to think on ones feet and understand basic questions in English is a must for the Leader of a country. He's not applying to be a stock boy at WalMArt. Mr Dion has been in politics a long time, funny how this has only come to light now. But regardless, he is not capable of being our PM.

djextreme, indeed. Neither English skills nor hearing were an issue in the loud and chaotic debate.

Marquis, my wife is a Francophone and my kids go to French public school. Not immersion, French.

I have no anti-French bias, this was an inability to think on his feet and answer an hypothetical question is what is at issue here.

He had three chances to answer the question.

If Harper had this happen to him in French, the media, Gilles Duceppe, and all the rest would attack him on his French skills.

Marquis, I think many Quebecers misunderstand Harper's attack against Dion. Harper was not attacking his English ability , but was attacking Dion's ultimate answer which demostrated that Dion doesn't have a real plan to deal with the current economic crisis. Harper didn't insult Dion at all. In fact the only one to actually throw personal insults was Dion who said of Harper "has no class". It is amazing how when Conservatives attack others on policies they are seen as meanies but when the Liberals insult people on character they are seen as the victims. It is shame that the media has such a distorted view of what is important. This is an election about policy. The goal of the election process is to debate why one party's policies are better than the others. Harper has kept it to this level, I only wish the other leaders could grow up and debate the issues facing Canadians and present us with real plans for our future.
I also want to say I love Quebec, great province, and hope people there can see that best interests are served by a Conservative government.
