Clearly inconsistent

NDP talking points about the 18 appointments to the Senate are clearly inconsistent. While they do talk about their opposition to the Senate as a whole, they also talk about the cost of this.

The NDP talk about the increased costs of filling these 18 seats, and how it would save six million dollars each and every year. But, when it comes to saving thirty million dollars each and every year in the form of political party subsidies, the NDP would band together with separatists to save their subsidies.

Clearly inconsistent, clearly NDP.

Dippers in a coalition government, in one heartbeat, would insist on 1/3 of the Senate seats.

Wouldn't it be interesting to find out how many Senate seats Dippers negotiated Libs and Duceppe for?
Lizzy was promised a seat, Bloc 6, can't tell me Dippers said, 'no no we don't want any'.

Maybe we should ask?

Well put Wilson, to the everlasting shame of the media in this country, they have not asked the following questions of the NDP, or the Liberals.
What was offered the Bloc how many senate seats 6 ?, how much money.?
When did Layton make this deal, before the election? I want to hear the rest of the tape
Was Lizzy offered a seat?
I can well imagine the outrage in Quebec if A rump party in B C was handed the "catbird seat"in parliment, As it is the Liberals are a "rump party" a regional anomaly. People are angry I hope Ignatiff gets stupid and we get to vote again it will be the end of the NDP, and the Liberals all they have managed to do is wake up the Right. There is no way they are going to steal my vote!
Cheers Bubba

And here comes 'fire the GG' from the Liberals
http://whatdoiknowgrit.blogspot.com/2008/12/governor-general-should-be-fired.html

Liberals are outraged because they OWN:

-the GG,
-the Senate,
-Parliament,
-the right to appoint term jobs,
-and as Bob Rae says, it's their country (Liberal)
and no Conservative should run it.

"The Tories are nice people ... I'll have them over for dinner, have breakfast with them, go fishing with them. I just don't want them running the country."
says Dipper Bob Rae

Well Boob, Iggy didn't want YOU running HIS country either!
Zap! You're gone.

I like the Dippers idea of saving money by not appointing any more senators. However, in the interest of fairness, the Liberals should give up 18 senate seats. This would save 36 million a year, by the NDP numbers. If they can convince the Liberals to give up these seats plus the eleven more due to come open in 2009, then I think Mr. Harper should should consider it.
And, in the interest of helping the economy, the Dippers should agree to putting an end to party financing by the government. Now we're geting pretty close to save 100 million.
