Cracks in the Coalition

Bourque is reporting that Iggy is having second thoughts, and perhaps more shocking, 15 opposition members are ready to break ranks and if necessary sit as independents.

Insiders are telling Bourque late this evening that "at least 15 opposition members are ready to break ranks and, if necessary, sit as independents. This group includes Dryden, Tonks, Bevilacqua (from Grits) and Angus (NDP)". Bourque is also hearing that "at least three Bloc members are considering same course of action and there maybe at least two Tories thinking of going the other way (as independents)

Is Bourque saying that Michael Chong and Lee Richardson are going to join the coalition?

Borque is saying whatever he dreams up. There is a reason that anything bombastic like this is "developing"

Developing = Hogwash that I'm hoping pans out.

knowing Angus personally, I would say this is wishful thinking.

I echo the comments above, Iggy et al are committed to this.

Time for Harper to resign and join the coalition. It is the only way he can still have any power. Shades of Stalingrad for Harper and the gang at the St John's Edmonton Report and the National Citizens' Coalition.

Hmmm, 4 anons posting within minutes with the same POV?

Well, Mike Duffy mentioned this as well on his journalist panel.

By "this", I mean that Iggy might be having second thoughts.

The "puffster" is still looking for his Senate appointment from Brian Mulroney. He will put his tongue anywhere to get a sinecure. Even in his heyday as a national TV journalist, he was second rate; why would things change now

I sure hope Bourque is wrong about Michael Chong!

He helped us out an awful lot here in Halton during our "Garth" years.

Wow the anony's are out in force tonight trying their best to spin this whole thing as being somehow justified and democratic.

I would say that Iggy is playing both sides of the street - he makes it look like he has second thoughts so that his chances of being elected leader and utimately PM aren't hurt, yet on the other side he gives his unwavering support to the unholy alliance.

Which in my mind makes him as smarmy as I thought he was.

I'll bet there are alot of MP's that had no idea that the outcry against this would be as loud as it has become.

John Manley is saying on CTV that he has no idea where this crap about his participation on the advisory panel is coming from.

hahaha

I say it crumbles by midnight.

Tyrants never realize the outcry that a people will make until you threaten their voice of democracy, and attempt to make all their decisions for the.

The Liberals and NDP are going to wear this for a long time to come, and it will prove difficult to shake.

Couldn't happen to a better group of commie socialist wacko's.

God Almighty, it is Democratic, it is the way our government works. What is wrong with you people?
For the love of god, please crack a book. Forsey says: If [a government] loses its majority support in the House of Commons, it must either make way for a government of the opposite party or call a fresh election, states Eugene Forsey in How Canadians Govern Themselves, his now-classic popular reference book published by the Library of Parliament. In Canada, the government and the House of Commons cannot be at odds for more than a few weeks at a time. If they differ on any matter of importance, then, promptly, there is either a new government of a new House of Commons.
