Canadian Blood Services gets it wrong

It is discrimination.

A gay man is no more likely to engage in risky behaviours then any other man. It is not the bad old days of bathhouses where homosexual men had to hide their behaviour from their friends, bosses, or even spouses.

Perhaps we should ban young people from donating blood.

I have chronic fatigue syndrome. They are not sure how it is spread so now I cannot donate blood in Canada.
Should I sue for my right to do so or should I thank all the powers who are making certain that I do not spread this horrible disease on to someone else.
My son at 3 days old was given a complete blood change. Later I found out about the contaminated blood and went for 10 years in fear that he might get AIDS.
Any thinking person would be horrified that they might have caused this fear.

Why make it a difficult as possible to have a safe supply of blood?

While it is true that risky sexual behaviour in men cannot be predicted based on his sexual orientation it is clear that among men who do engage in such activities gay men are at a high risk at contracting the AIDS virus while the risk for straight males is near zero.

The blood supply is not a toy. Anything less than perfect screening of blood leads to illness and disease. We must learn from our past mistakes.

Wtf did you just say? Did you just say that a hetro having unprotected sex in say swinger clubs, has close to a zero percent chance of getting AIDs? What fantasy world do you live in?

Anon@7L:43pm says "Iceman said it all. Since when is giving blood a right? Since some gay rights bawl-baby and his scummy attorney declares it so?"

Wow..classy. Do your knuckles drag?

To be clear, I am not defending him because he is gay.

And yes, I get the irony of my first comment :)

I also find it ironic that no one commented on the second link talking about youth and their very high risk of contracting STDs.
